RBI clarifies the variety in 10 rupees coin

The Reserve Bank of India stated that all 14 designs of Rs.10 coins are valid for transactions. With different designs of Rs.10 coins in the market, it was experiencing a lot of suspension regarding their genuineness. Taking this into consideration RBI issued a statement to clear the issue. While reiterating the status of coins of different designs, they stated that the Reserve Bank has come to know about the reluctance in certain places on the part of public members and traders in accepting Rs.10 coins because of the suspicion.

Hence, Reserve Bank circulated that all these coins are minted by mints which are all verified by the Government of India. They are given distinctive features and are introduced timely for reflecting various themes of social, economic, and cultural values. The RBI further asked all banks to accept these coins while making transactions or exchanging the currency.

The 14 designs are as follows:

RBI took such stand on the legal tender of Rs. 10 coins last year in November as well. At that time, RBI stated that two distinct Rs.10 coins are valid. One of them has a rupee symbol while the other one comes without the rupee symbol. They look different in appearance, but both are equally good for transactions. Because of the long life of coins, they tend to circulate in various forms in the market.
