Butter chicken, which is also known as Murg Makhani is a world-famous Indian chicken curry recipe, prepared in a buttery gravy.

History and Origin:

Butter Chicken curry was first prepared in the 1950s in a famous restaurant called Moti Mahal, Delhi, by Kundan Lal Jaggi, Thakur Dass and Kundan Lal Gujral. The recipe was made by mixing leftover tandoori chicken in tomato gravy, along with Butter and cream, named Murg Makhani. The British came up with the phrase ‘Butter Chicken’.

How to serve Butter Chicken?

Butter Chicken is an Indian Curry recipe. Authentically, it’s eaten in lunch or dinner. You can have Butter Chicken with hot steamed rice or jeera rice. It tastes amazing even with Pulao. You can try it with lemon rice as well.

Butter Chicken goes with Nun or butter nun so well. Even with tandoori roti, it’s tremendously good. You can have paratha with butter Chicken also.

Variations:-

Some variations of Murg Makhani or Butter Chicken curry are Paneer Makhani and Dal Makhani, which are also very famous worldwide and can be the best alternatives of Butter Chicken for vegetarians.
